Our Story

Pam and Ian are the founders of Akasha Coffee--a mother-son duo that have enjoyed becoming self-taught home baristas.  Pam spends her days as a caregiver, life-skills and communication partner to Ian, who is a non-speaking autistic.  Don't let the term "non-speaking" fool you though, because Ian has a lot to say.  He just communicates differently. Currently, that means Ian uses an alphabet letterboard or keyboard to spell or type what he wants to say.  Together Pam and Ian make a great team and serve up delicious "coffee with soul."

Pam and Ian have passionately pursued espresso at home for over 10 years, sampling coffee beans from hundreds of roasters around the country, honing their skills and tastebuds.  They are dedicated to serving the best coffee drinks and sharing the love that goes into each cup.

Why Call Ourselves

AKASHA?

Akasha is a Sanskrit word that means "primary substance."  And around here, it goes without saying that coffee is a "primary substance!"

The meaning extends beyond that, though, into the idea that all of us are connected by an unseen force-a "primary substance."  And to us, that is love.  Our company motto to serve "Coffee with Soul" is a reflection of our feeling of connection with others. It's all about the love-- literally and figuratively in each cup!

A fractal pattern that spirals perpetually,

hands forming a symbol of love,

a single drop of water in an infinite ocean,

a seemingly endless sunset sky with depth beyond measure.  It is all part of the idea of AKASHA.
